Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
ActiveSite ("we", "us", or "our") operates the ActiveSite service. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our service.
Information We Collect
We collect several types of information in order to provide and improve our service:
- Account information — name, email address, and password when you register.
- GitHub credentials — OAuth tokens used to read repository metadata and commit generated content on your behalf. We never store your GitHub password.
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the dashboard.
- Payment information — billing details processed securely by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
- Log data — IP addresses, browser type, referring URL, and timestamps for security and debugging purposes.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the ActiveSite service.
- Process transactions and send related information, including purchase confirmations and invoices.
- Send transactional and administrative emails (e.g. account notices, security alerts).
- Improve, personalise, and expand our service.
- Understand and analyse how you use our service.
- Communicate with you about product updates and new features.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraudulent activity.
GitHub Integration
ActiveSite requests specific GitHub OAuth scopes necessary to commit generated content files to your repositories. We use these permissions solely to perform the actions you configure (e.g. creating commits in selected repos). We do not access, read, or store the source code of your repositories beyond what is required to format and commit content.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — trusted third parties who assist in operating our service (e.g. hosting, payment processing, analytics), bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with advance notice to you.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@activesite.com.
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our service and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.
Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 16.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
